Polish Chemistry Manifesto

The Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry (PIPC) announces the publication of the first version of the Polish Chemistry Manifesto. The document is a set of postulates developed in cooperation with representatives of the chemical industry associated with PIPC, which will be presented to representatives of the administration.

The Manifesto, which is the first strategic document of this type in the Polish industry, contains the most important postulates and directional actions that are necessary for the effective transformation and reconstruction of the competitive position of Polish Chemistry. It focuses on six pillars, which are:

  1. Market protection
  2. Energy transformation
  3. Sustainable Chemistry
  4. Circular economy
  5. Favorable regulations
  6. The Future of Polish Chemistry

As part of the Manifesto, we indicate which areas are key so that we can efficiently respond to changes and support the economic development of not only Poland, but also the entire European Union. The new term of office of the authorities in Brussels, which is just beginning, as well as the upcoming Polish presidency of the EU Council, is a good time to pay special attention to the numerous challenges and difficulties that we face. The entire industry is facing a difficult period and either we take joint action immediately or we face a slow deindustrialization of Europe – said Dr. Eng. Tomasz Zieliński, President of the Management Board of PIPC.

The Manifesto is intended to be a field for cooperation, but also for shared responsibility between companies and government representatives. The future of Polish Chemistry depends on the effectiveness of joint actions of both parties.

The chemical industry must rebuild its competitive position in Europe by ensuring its raw material and product autonomy. This is essential for the further development of the entire Community industry. Faced with growing economic pressure from non-EU regions, the EU needs a comprehensive framework to support the position of chemical companies, ensuring they can compete fairly on the international stage. The Polish response to these needs is the Polish Chemistry Manifesto.

The main assumptions of this strategic document were presented during the 11th Polish Chemistry Congress, which took place on June 6-7, 2024. in Warsaw. Then, together with representatives of entities associated with PIPC, the first full version of the Manifesto was developed.

We want to develop this document. We invite both large and small entities to consult. The voice and comments of our Members are extremely important to us. The manifesto, which we will present to representatives of the national and EU administration in the autumn, is intended to be the voice of the entire community of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. – emphasized Dr. Eng. Tomasz Zieliński.

The demands contained in the document concern both actions that are necessary in the field of national legislation, as well as EU legislation, which is why PIPC has already announced meetings with numerous groups of representatives of the national parliament, government, local governments, as well as various EU administration bodies.
